The Most Complete Food
Milk is the most complete, balanced food in the world. Once you start tampering with it everything becomes fucked up.
Visual Refuel
I was over in London a couple of weeks ago and splurged out on some quality graphics readables, visual refuel:
Character Design For Mobile Devices
Everything you need to know about sprite graphics, a history of 8/16 bit video game systems, production techniques and tips, a Super Mario evolution and lots of and interesting insights… packed with clear screenshots… indespensible. link
Refill – Issue 4
A bit like a designer's 'Lucky Bag' containing the magazine, a mousepad, stickers and some fliers and stuff… But it's really all about the 'mook' (magazine/book hybrid) and the interviews and artwork showcased in it. link
Business Cards – The Art Of Saying Hello
Just about every concievable twist on the 80x55mm biz card format, from sticky-note pads to 5mm thick perspex blocks and everything inbetween… I particularly liked the idea of just putting your own sticker on someone elses card to make it your own. link
Bleepmaster, friend of Cornelius
At the moment my 'Bleepmaster' myspace page is the 'top 8' friends list for eclectic indie music innovator Cornelius… that's a great surprise and honour for me since Cornelius is one of my favourite musicians… I guess someone at Matador Records must have liked the Mechagodzilla avatar 🙂
Bonobo Chimp playing Ms. Pac-Man
A gem from youtube in the form of this documentary film of a bonobo that has learned to play Ms. Pac-Man. The look of deep concentration on the apes face at 00:19 is classic. It's plain to see he (or she) is really into what's happening in the game and understands how to control the onscreen character and navigate the maze – link
Unofficial MPC1000 OS ver 3.0
A guy in Japan has made a new operating system for Akai's MPC1000 [ link ] it adds a bunch of new features found previously only on the MPC2500, including a grid based editor and four tracks for direct recording into alongside your sequences, expanding the functions of Akai's lowest priced sampler/sequencer way beyond what the manufacturers intended …the troops at mpc-forums.com are reviewing and bug-testing it at the moment [ link ] and even it's beta state it's beyond what most had hoped for… great stuff…
Wesley Willis: The Daddy of Rock’N’Roll
The guy was a genius; maverick spoken word beat poet punk, a true rock 'n' roller…

Buttery Beats & Blips
This is my latest demo cd… consisting of 5 instrumental tracks made using samples, monosynths, electronic blips and scratching… it's a 'digital vinyl' record style cd (complete with grooves) packaged like a shrunk down 7″ or 12″ record in a cut-out cover with an inner sleeve…the picture of the cow (who lives in a field behind my house) was dropped into the design at the last minute… I was going through all my photos, looking at holiday snaps etc but decided it was best if I reconcile my dairy industry dayjob and my beatmaking obsession… 'buttery beats and blips' 🙂
May was hectic
Meaning to do some retrospective blogging but have been distracted… May was hectic busy and while there were things I could have wrote about here I didn't… anyhows sometimes it's good to take a break and de-computerise…
bip_hop generation vol.7
This album really helps me de-stress and chill out… soothing ambient tones and percussion… environment altering sounds… warms the room like an audio radiator… one of my favourite musical finds this year – mp3 clips & more info here
