Teaching and External Examining
In addition to my work as Co-Director of DkIT’s Creative Arts Research Centre, I’ve lectured full-time in Creative Media at Dundalk Institute of Technology since 2007. I’ve also taught for IULM University of Milan’s MA in Game Design, and delivered guest lectures at FH Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, Trinity College Dublin, and Ritsumeikan University.
Over the years I’ve built a broad base of experience and expertise in effectively designing, delivering, and assessing university level courses and modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level across art, design and technology related domains.
I teach a mix of theory and practice based subjects that draw upon my academic and industry background, and ongoing research scholarship and creative practice. My teaching philosophy is centered on the students, aligning class content with assessments and tailoring these to meet the specific learning needs of each class cohort.
Since 2010 I’ve been an external examiner for universities including MTU, TU Dublin, TUS, University of Portsmouth, Canterbury Christ Church University, and Trinity College Dublin on both research-led and taught programmes.
My teaching-related training includes an MA in Learning and Teaching, and a Certificate in Postgraduate Research Supervision.
